Chamber Types
Over the years Emerson & Cuming Microwave Products has developed a wide range of standard products for different types of anechoic chambers. As most of our absorbers operate in a broad range of frequencies, the customer can often combine different types of absorbers to his own need and judgments. Of course our technical specialists will always assist the customer to discover the best fit for use for his budget and application.

In general anechoic chambers are split up in:

  • EMC chambers for testing electromagnetic compatibility (emission & immunity)
  • Antenna chambers for testing any kind of antenna patterns

For Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing (EMC) Emerson & Cuming MP holds mainly two types of solutions. The first one is a hybrid solution (ECCOSORB VHY) in which we offer a resistive, solid pyramidal foam absorber to be placed on top of ferrite tiles. In contrast with some other absorber suppliers Emerson & Cuming MP really matches each batch of absorbers to the ferrite part. The second solution is a hollow, pyramidal foam absorber (ECCOSORB HX). These are assembled based on a unique concept, which make them function from 30 MHz without using ferrite tiles. To date Emerson & Cuming MP can offer to his customers both solutions working for all relevant standards including the recently adapted new edition of CISPR-16-1-4.

For Antenna Chambers we provide solutions for far-field and near-field testing. Our design tools enable us to simulate the performance in the far-field. For Near-field solutions we work closely together with end users or world famous suppliers of near-field measurement systems.

Emerson & Cuming MP offers also solutions for special type of chambers, i.e.:

  • Compensated Compact range
  • Mil-standard chamber (MIL-STD-462)

If you would like help on the design, construction, or refurbishment of an anechoic chamber, please fill out our anechoic questionnaire with the specifics of the chamber and one of our sales engineer will contact you shortly.
