ECCOSORB® SF is a series of thin, free space, resonant absorbers that are available in the 1 GHz to 18 GHz range. These magnetically loaded narrowbanded absorbers reflect 1% or less of normally incident energy (at least 20 dB down) at design frequencies in the range of 2 to 18 GHz when intimately backed to a metal surface. At frequencies in the range of 1 to 2 GHz, reflectivity at the resonant frequency is slightly less than -20 dB down. These absorbers are also available on special order for other frequencies above 18 GHz.
ECCOSORB® SF is ideally suited to applications where a thinner material is essential and broadband performance is not required. In order to function properly, ECCOSORB® SF should be intimately backed to a metal surface. If required an integral reflective backing (ML) can be provided as well as a Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) for easy attachment.
Applications include lining radar nacelles (particularly where high power is present), lining of cavity backed and shrouded telecommunication antennas, lining metal surfaces to attenuate surface currents, and for lining magnetron housings to prevent detuning.
Note: ECCOSORB® SF is NOT designed for use inside a cavity. While the material will perform well because of the high electrical parameters, this material is specified on performance and each batch is tuned for thickness. Therefore batch variations will cause thickness variations, which could lead to clearance issues inside a cavity. Please consult a Sales Engineer for assistance in selecting a proper material.
