ECCOSORB® FDS is a thin, flexible, magnetically loaded, silicone rubber material that is electrically non-conductive. This material has high magnetic and The power loss in a dielectric due to heating as a wave passes through it. It can be expressed as "dielectric loss tangent" (power factor) or "loss factor". Low loss makes a good dielectric (ECCOSTOCK dielectric materials). High loss is an absorber (ECCOSORB), poor dielectric.dielectric loss in the UHF and microwave bands.  It is generally applied to attenuate Traveling and creeping waves which contribute to RCS of an object. Also can contribute to RFI in a microwave module.
surface currents and therefore can be used to modify antenna patterns, lower the Q of cavities, act as an attenuator in transmission lines, or reduce the radar cross section of objects.

ECCOSORB
® FDS has been used to line the inside surface of metal cylinders which have one end open and found to reduce the “head on” Refers to the level of signal reflected from the radar target. The term RCS pattern refers to the manner in which a specific target at a specific frequency varies in reflective signal level as the target is rotated.radar cross section. It is not recommended as an absorber for specular reflections.  It is effective where surface wave phenomena and multiple bounce contribute to RCS.

As a practical matter, ECCOSORB
® FDS is not that commonly used in cavity resonance reduction applications, particularly in the 800 MHz to 6 GHz range. In those situations, ECCOSORB® MCS is highly recommended for best performance.
